Traditional Children's Games Belonging to Artvin Şavşat Region

The coexistence of many cultures in the Artvin region has also affected the traditional children's games played in childhood. It is possible to talk about a rich cultural diversity in the geography that contains many different identities such as Turkish, Georgian, Laz and Hemşin. Children's games have been carried to the present day through cultural unity and interaction. In this research, children's games in the region of Meydancık (İmerhev Valley) in Şavşat district of Artvin were compiled and introduced within the framework of the interviews and the information obtained in the literature. The games, located in the Meydancık region of Şavşat district of Artvin province, were compiled by using high school students, teachers and parents with purposeful sampling method. It has also been supported by studies in the literature. It is aimed to bring these games to the literature by giving information about the "name of the games, the playground, the game materials, the way of playing" of the children's games in the memory of the interviewees. When the games are examined, it is possible to see the cultural, social and linguistic characteristics of the people in the region. Some differences have been identified in the materials, rules and names of the games. The games have national and universal characteristics as well as reflecting the peculiarities of the region. At the same time, it is possible to see the traces of cultural interaction, unity and solidarity in the games.
